| Blair metallurgists work closely with melting mills in
North America and around the world to specify optimum quality "hot bands" for
each application. These hot mills perform the melting, slab casting and hot
rolling processes that establish the chemistry, microstructure and thickness of
our raw material coils. Before Blair receives hot bands, they are also pickled
in hydrochloric acid to remove the outer layer of oxide scale, which prepares
the surface for cold rolling to thinner gauges. |
